Role of Additional Deputy Commissioner

The post of Additional Deputy Commissioner has been created to assist the Deputy Commissioner in his day-to-day working. The Additional Deputy Commissioner enjoys the same powers as that of Deputy Commissioner under the rules. He is the chief executive officer of DRDA. With a view to lighten the enormously increasing workload of the Deputy Commissioner, the post of Additional Deputy Commissioner was created in the year 1979. Various Schemes under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner are as given below:-

1. MGNREGA (The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005)

It is an Indian labour law and social security measure that aims to guarantee the 'right to work'. It aims to ensure livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.

2. NBA (Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan)

Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) is a Community-led total sanitation program initiated by Government of India in 1999. The approach adopted in this campaign aims at motivating rural households to build toilet facilities and encouraging their use.

3. Indira Aawaas Yojna

Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, sponsored by Govt. of India with effect from 1st January, 1996. The main objective of the scheme is preliminary to help construction / upgradation of dwelling units of members of Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes, freed bounded labourers, minorities in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category and other Below Poverty Line non SC / ST rural households by providing them financial assistance.

4. SGSY(SwarnJayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna)

It is an initiative launched by the Government of India to provide sustainable income to poor people living in rural areas of the country. The scheme was launched on April 1, 1999.
